Why are there granules in my gutters?

Writer: Jerad FowlerJerad Fowler

Granules in your gutters are typically there because they are small pieces of mineral material embedded in asphalt shingles on your roof, which naturally loosen and fall off over time as the roof ages, getting washed into your gutters by rain; while a small amount is normal, a large buildup could indicate potential roof damage and warrant a professional inspection to assess the health of your roof.
